Type material. HOLOTYPE: preparatory female, USNM 216074.

Type locality. North of Suriname (8º04.2'N 54º21.3'W), North Atlantic Ocean, 1000 to 1022 m.

Diagnosis. Based on Saunders, Hessler & Garner, 1985: 31, figs 1-20. Head eyestalks absent; rostrum absent. Pereopods 2 to 5 each with exopods; exopods with more than 2 articles; pereopod 2 large, fossorial. Pereopods 3-4 basis and ischium separate. Uropod endopod with 5 articles.

Habitat. Marine.

Depth zone. Lower bathyal.

Distribution. South America: north-east of Suriname.

Classification. Hursutiidae.
